Busy Hands Workshop Series
Nalbinding
Ready for some nail-biting nalbinding?! If you are looking for a productive yet calming craft during the cold winter months, join us for this hands on workshop at the Stratford Perth Museum.
The intent of this workshop is to introduce participants to the practice of Nalbinding. Widely acknowledged as an ancient weaving technique, nalbinding uses a series of small loops to create a sturdy, woven material. It is a fabric creation technique predating both knitting and crocheting. Fragments of this fabric have been discovered in ancient archaeological finds dating back thousands of years, however, it is most commonly associated with the Viking period (800 – 1050 CE).

Her goal is to share knowledge of ancient techniques of fiber creation and create contemporary interest in these ancient practices.
