Where else but here would three of Canada’s most acclaimed and award-winning actors form a rock band—alongside one of the most compelling percussionists in the country—and call it home?

Notes from Underground is a true Stratford original: a high-octane, alt-rock band born from the extraordinary artistic community that thrives here. With Aaron Krohn, Bethany Jillard Krohn, and Ben Carlson—all Stratford Festival powerhouses—and the magnetic Graham Hargrove on drums, this band is what happens when world-class theatre artists bring their talents to the back door of the museum and turn it into a rock show. We’re lucky. And it’s going to be a blast.

That’s how the band describes their fast-paced, melodic sound—an “alt sonic-pop attack.”

Formed in 2012 during a Stratford Festival production of Henry V, Notes from Underground debuted under the name International Denim Powerhouse at the first Late Night with Lucy on July 20, 2012.

Since then, they’ve performed at The Mercury Lounge in New York, The Pit Bar at London’s Old Vic Theatre, Lazaridis Hall at the Tom Patterson Theatre, and The Bunker here in Stratford.
