Join us at the Stratford Perth Museum for Content Crash Course: 4-Week Intensive, a hands-on workshop series led by filmmaker, editor, content creator, and Second City-trained improviser Kris von Kleist.
Whether you’re creating content for your small business, creative practice, community organization, personal brand, or social media, this beginner-friendly intensive will guide you through the full video creation process — from developing ideas and planning your shoot to filming, editing, and sharing your finished content online.
This course is designed to be approachable, practical, and supportive. You do not need professional camera gear or previous filmmaking experience — a smartphone is enough to get started. Kris also integrates playful improv techniques into the process to help participants loosen up, generate ideas, build camera confidence, and feel more natural on video.

Workshop schedule
Week 1: Concept & Ideation — Monday, June 1
Develop content ideas, clarify your message, and use creative s to turn simple ideas into stronger video concepts.
Week 2: Planning & Pre-Production — Monday, June 8
Learn how to organize your content before filming, including basic scripting, shot lists, visual planning, and accessible production workflows.
Week 3: Production — Monday, June 15
Explore practical filming techniques, including framing, lighting, sound, camera confidence, solo filming tips, and simple improv-based exercises to feel more natural on camera.
Week 4: Post-Production & Sharing — Monday, June 22
Learn beginner-friendly editing fundamentals, how to shape your footage into a finished video, and how to prepare your content for sharing online.
Optional work period
Each session runs from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with an additional optional work period from 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM. This extra time gives participants the opportunity to ask questions, work through ideas, get additional support, and continue developing their content in a guided environment.
Each session includes live demos, Q&A, and hands-on support in a fun, collaborative environment.

No professional equipment required. Participants are asked to bring a smartphone and a way to take notes, such as a laptop, tablet, or notebook.
As an award-winning filmmaker specializing in directing, concept development, cinematography, and editing, KVK has been working in the media creation industry for over a decade. Most recently, they were part of the Stratford Festival’s Film & Distribution department, where they developed the festival’s first video podcast series, Director's Notes, edited Peter Pasyk’s award-winning short film, The Understudy, and served as Director of Photography and editor for the award-winning series Just Short of Reality.
A grassroots artist at heart, KVK’s career has been built on collaborating with artists, brands, and organizations to create content that aligns with their missions and connects with audiences in meaningful ways.
In addition to filmmaking, KVK has an extensive improv background, having trained at The Second City and performed regularly as part of an improv troupe for three years. Their experience in improvisation informs their approach to storytelling and on-camera presence, helping creators loosen up, embrace spontaneity, and connect authentically with their audience.
For the past decade, Stratford, ON, has also been KVK’s creative headquarters. Drawn in by the city’s thriving artistic communities—from live theatre to culinary arts to the entrepreneurial creative spirit—they are now taking the next step in giving back. With the increasing demand for media content in today’s social media-driven world—especially video content—KVK recognizes how important it is for fellow grassroots artists to feel equipped and confident in creating their own work. Through this introductory workshop, KVK aims to empower artists with the tools and skills they need to harness social media as a powerful creative platform.
