Holly Cole Documentary Screening "My Foolish Heart"

The Holly Cole Trio – My Foolish Heart is a celebrated, one-hour music documentary that premiered on Global in 1993. Directed and edited by Michael McNamara, it beautifully balances dynamic live concert footage with intimate behind-the-scenes sequences, including recording sessions for the trio’s second album, Blame It On My Youth, produced by Greg Cohen (Tom Waits, Ornette Coleman). 

At the core of the film is the chemistry between Holly Cole, Aaron Davis (piano), and David Piltch (bass), perfectly mirroring the mood of their early albums—intimate, sparse, and deeply emotional. The film won multiple international awards as well as 2 Canadian Gemini Awards: Best Music Program or Series, and Best Performance in a Music Program for Holly Cole.

Come see the original film July 15 at 7pm, at the Stratford Perth Museum. Aaron Davis and Michael McNamara will be on hand for a post screening Q&A.

The film won a number of prestigious awards, including

Silver Hugo Award at the Chicago International Film Festival

Gold Special Jury Award for TV and Cable Production at Worldfest-Houston

Two Gemini Awards (Best Music Program or Series, and Best Performance in a Music Program for Holly Cole)
